National Eligibility Test Exam 2018(NET)

  • On behalf of UGC, the Central Board of Secondary Education announces holding of the National Eligibility Test
  • The eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian Universities and Colleges
  • CBSE will conduct NET in 84 subjects at 90 selected NET Examination Cities spread across the country
  • The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor
  • The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them. 
  • The role of CBSE is only up to the conduct of NET Examination and declaration of result. The e-certificates to a qualified candidate are issued by UGC- NET Bureau. So the candidates declared qualified in NET are informed to contact Head, UGC NET Bureau, University of Delhi, South Campus
  • The National Eligibility Test (NET) is a test to determine eligibility for college and university level lectureship and for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals
  •  It aims to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in teaching professions and research

    • The National Eligibility Test (NET) is a test to decide qualification for school and college level lecItureship and for the honor of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals.
    • It plans to guarantee least gauges for the participants in showing callings and research.

    NET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGCand Social Science, Computer Science &Applications, Electronic Science etc. (list of subjects of post graduation are eligible for this Test.
    • The Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science &Applications, Electronic Science etc. (list of subjects of post graduation are eligible for this Test.
    • The Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

    NET Exam Application Process

    • The candidates are required to download the Bank Challan Performa from the UGC website OR take photocopy from the UGC-NET 
    • the candidates must possess the following:
      • Scanned passport (pp) size photograph in JPEG format of less than 300 kb,
      • Copy of Bank Challan (fee receipt)
    • Candidate seeking admission to the Test must apply online
    • After successful submission, the candidate should take printout of online Application Form
